Cosy Queen St 1 BR apartment

The Place is very central and the accomodation looks clean, unfortunately we had cockroaches in the room, which where already crawling in our belongings. The host let us wait until his cleaning team came to check if we were right, after that he agreed to cancel the next nights. It's an old building and there were more of them in the hallway, so I guess it's an infestation of the whole building.

I was a bit surprised to see that the apartment actually looks smaller and not very bright than on the pictures. Feels more like a place to stay for business and not holidays as it is not cosy. Other than that the place is clean, Stefan communicates very well with clear instructions. This place is very central and is perfect to go around Auckland with transport around the corner.

Logement idéalement situé en plein cœur de la CBD d'Auckland, tout est accessible à pied et l'appartement est très calme ! L'accès est sécurisé et l'immeuble, très paisible. Nous recommandons vivement l'appartement de Stefan.

Die Unterkunft ist wirklich super zentral. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Leider haben wir nicht gut geschlafen, da die Lüftung im Bad sehr laut ist und man direkt daneben liegt.

This is a great stay! Host was very responsive and even checked up on us during our stay. In the heart of the cbd there are so many things to do that is just a 10 minute walk away. Apartment was spotless and was incredibly warm as it was cold outside. And check in was easier than ever. Overall, great place to stay would definitely recommend.

I was very happy with my stay. Management is professional, organised and proactive. The apartment is as advertised, cute, felt like a little Paris apartment, thoughtfully styled. Easy to sleep at night, very quiet. Nothing was broken, everything was clean. March in Auckland is a comfortable temperature and I needed neither the heater or the fan. Delightful apartment and I'd happily choose Zodiak in Auckland from now on without looking at other platforms. This crew had their act together and it shows. 100% impressed.

Great location, comfortable beds and a shower with strong pressure, which we loved. This hosts puts lots of thought into making this AirBnB feel as comfortable as possible, with lots of small homely touches, a washing machine/dryer, table and chairs, big fridge, Smart TV and plenty of kitchen amenities. To no fault of the hosts, we hadn't read that the keys are picked up in a separate location and we're pretty exhausted upon collection, as it's a block or two walk up-hill. Don't make the same mistake we did ? The summer heat definitely hits you upon entering the room, however there was a nice fan to put in-front of us to make our stay more comfortable.

Self check-in was really easy! The unit is as described. Complete and good for a few days stay. The unit is located at the city centre so there are restaurants and shops left and right. We had no problem with the small fan cause maybe it’s a bit cold and we made sure to aerate the unit as soon as we get up in the morning. No moldy smell issue for us as well which is amazing! There was a small roach (just one) but I think it’s not from the unit but from the building. As long as you don’t leave food uncovered on the table, you should be good. They have a spacious fridge you can use. The best thing was the communication with the Zodiak Team/owner. Very responsive and accommodating, making our stay a breeze. I still highly recommend Stefan’s place! ?

I loved the apartment and the location a lot. Nicely decorated and very complete. The only thing that makes it a 4 in stead of 5 star rating was the air quality in the studio. It was very hot and muggy inside and there was no (or bad) ventilation system. The windows can be opened but that hardly helped because the hot outlet of air conditioners of all other apartments filled the air there. I think when the studio has proper air conditioning it would worth be a 5 star rating!

Prior to booking, I noticed mentions of a potential cockroach issue, but I'm pleased to say that upon arrival, the space was impeccably clean, and we encountered no such pests during our stay. Everything about the house is in line with the description and pictures. It is very close to restaurants and supermarkets. It is a very convenient location. The only thing worth noting is that there is no air conditioning and it is equipped with a small electric fan, but it is enough for me. A great stay.

Location is good. Please be wary of mouldy smell that spreads through apartment. There is no AC but a small fan only.

Superb location! Good communication from the host and the studio was very clean. Only a couple of things - there are lots and lots of cockroaches unfortunately. Being an old building I’m sure it’s not the host’s fault but it definitely impacted our stay. I found them everywhere, on my towels, on the curtain, next to the bed, on my toothbrush… So we kept no food in the studio. Dishwasher didn’t work and the oven doesn’t have the indicators so you wouldn’t know the settings or temperature. Other than that we had a great stay! Thank you!

Hello Aika, Very sorry to hear about your experience with the cockroaches, and thanks for letting us know! We have just organised a fumigation so hopefully it does not happen again. Indeed, the Guardian is one of the oldest character buildings in Auckland. The dishwasher is brand new and was installed a few months ago so we are investigating what the issue is. Sorry for this too and hope it did not impact your stay too much. Hope you had a safe trip back to AU!

Tired apartment, photos have had filters applied, bad smells in the apartment and building. Felt like a student apartment which not much natural light. Very annoying to have to pick up keys at different location to apartment (especially with luggage). Communication was okay, not great - especially the need to complete additional check in details beyond what is required on Airbnb. Overall a disappointing stay.

Thanks for staying with us Mark and for your review! We find the photos do accurately represent the layout and standard of the apartment as they were taken recently but yes, as they were professionally taken the photos have been sent to us slightly touched up. This is quite normal for Airbnb listings however. Our team checked the apartment regarding the smell and found it smelt good however apologies if there was a strange smell in the building during your stay. We do mention the key pick-up and check-in form in the listing and we ask guests to confirm this works for this before booking so we're sorry if this came as a surprise.
